FROM THE FLAG

Commodore’s Corner

I look forward to serving the Membership of MYC as Commodore for another year with pleasure. Our great activities continue to be often and include most of our members.

The sailors ("the Monomoy Navy") had damp trips in June and July, but they were enthusiastic!! July and August found our sailors in Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard with great fellowship. Many thanks to Frank Messina and Sam Winsper for their organizing these adventures and to the Members who participated.

Our power boaters' rendezvous found challenges with all the rain but many were held with wonderful times and even producing the "MYC Water Ballet Team" of Karen Schwalm, Blanche MacMullan, Bill Schwalm, John Brooks, John MacMullan and Hal Knapp. The lobster roll lunch at Jacknife Cove was a terrific hit! Many thanks to Harry Cutts and Dennis Schock for great organization and to the Members who participated in the Rendezvous this year.

The Flares Safety Exercise, handled by the Coast Guard, was a great experience for us to use our expired flares with safe instruction. Many thanks to Charles Morgan-BM1, Sherwin Baldwin-BM3 and Senior Chief Johanson for sharing their expertise with us.

The picnic was another great success with a huge turn out. Many thanks to Chairmen Jack and Suzy McDowell, the volunteers who planned, conducted the games, Jim and Carol Aaron who sold Stores Items and the Members who cooked and to the Members who came and brought such tasty foods.

Our boaters are busy winding down with voyages here and there, pulling out their boats and planning for next year!

We look forward to our marvelous Fall Luncheons and Committees are being formed so make that call and volunteer for a Committee where you can serve. See your Directory for names and Committees to call. Members who are here in the summer only, look at the activities and volunteer to help when you are here.

A Committee has been formed to address the "sound problem" at the Clubhouse and will present a plan to the Board of Governors for their consideration. More information to come!
